cornjulio Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 (edited) https://www.ebay.de/itm/277274554083 Photos are not great. Apparently no case but guitar in good condition. Maybe someone nearby gets to check it out? I sent them an email, they sent me a reply including the serial number: 8 0382 They are asking 4k. I like it but I wouldn't buy it unseen (and not for that price either). Not sure if the frets are not super low. Trussrod cover seems to be from a Gibson. No affiliation but interesting guitar I think. Let's see how this plays out. Edited July 28, 2025 by cornjulio 2 Quote
Vintage Hamer-Lover Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Good luck 🤞. Hope seller is moving at least 1k. Let's keep us informed... Quote
Michael_s Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 I have been looking at this ad as well - what struck me is that either the bridge PU or the bridge look slanted and the high e string is not at all aligned with the polepieces.... Quote

I get the impression that the bridge isn't installed proberly. There's also a gap between b and e string saddle and the saddles are not aligned the right way (no way that this guitar is in tune). I wrote to the seller, they don't seem to know much about the guitar (he says he's selling for his girlfriend). The price is negotiable but it would be important to see the guitar. maybe you could talk to them? They offered to speak on the phone and the price is up for negotiation (they offered it to me for less but I'm not buying). Also a correct hamer case can easily set you back another EUR 300,- / 400,- Quote

Bobby Marshall Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 IME bridge pickups on 1978 Sunbursts aren’t wide enough to line up with the string spacing. I would imagine an unintended design flaw. 1 Quote

Also a correct hamer case can easily set you back another EUR 300,- / 400,- It looks like the bridge is not intonated or set up at all. But I doubt it's a big problem. Buy the guitar and ad 200-300 euros to send it to your favourite luthier to have the frets levelled and dressed and let him do a pro setup on the whole guitar. I am sure that will make it play "as new". That is what I always do when I buy "old wood". A +30 year old guitar always need professional love and care. It's not a flaw as I dare you to hear anything wrong. Set the pickup up right and it will sing. People hear with their eyes, they are morons. 1 Quote
Dave Scepter Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 (edited) You would think if you're selling a guitar for that much money, you would take the time and put all the strings "new" on for fuck sakes... for all you know, those strings are super loose, causing the bridge saddle optical alignment issues... I suggest asking him to restring it "in tune" to check out the alignment with the neck edges... it'll never lineup with the pickup pole pieces... Edited August 16, 2025 by Dave Scepter Quote
