Bobby Marshall Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 (edited) Hello there ladies and gentlemen, are any of you familiar with retro guitars or king electric guitars? I reached out to both and no response. They put fabric on guitar bodies (think 68 paisley tele which was foil). or maybe you know a shop that can and will accept this work? TIA. Doesn't mean I wouldn't but would obviously want to do a test piece first. 2 Quote
0 crunchee Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 I have no idea how the recent recreations of a 'paisley' finish were done, but there's a brief description of the original process in this listing from Fender: Limited Edition Brad Paisley 1967 "Lost Paisley" Telecaster® | Limited Edition Series | Fender® Custom Shop Apparently the 'fabric' isn't fabric, but something called Cling-Foil. 0 Bobby Marshall Posted August 14, 2025 Author Posted August 14, 2025 Thanks man. Not looking to do the foil but fabric which is a slightly different process. And I don’t have the skills or space to pull off such a task. Needs me an expert. I found another shop. Hoping this one will help an old man out. 30 minutes ago, crunchee said: I have no idea how the recent recreations of a 'paisley' finish were done, but there's a brief description of the original process in this listing from Fender: Limited Edition Brad Paisley 1967 "Lost Paisley" Telecaster® | Limited Edition Series | Fender® Custom Shop Apparently the 'fabric' isn't fabric, but something called Cling-Foil. 1 Quote

I ran across that Stike-finished bass immediately after reading your question and made (obviously) incorrect assumptions about the paisley finish. Quote

0 Dutchman Posted August 19, 2025 Posted August 19, 2025 There is a show on YouTube called "Ask Zac" he's buddies with Brad and he goes thru the whole dilemma of getting Brad's tele's paisley. Plus a whole bunch of Smashville inside tone tricks, speaker shoot outs much more. He's a pretty fair picker himself!! https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCuev4obOPg9grzv6O7ddOfg 1 Quote

I might have a luthier willing to take this on. 10 minutes ago, Dutchman said: There is a show on YouTube called "Ask Zac" he's buddies with Brad and he goes thru the whole dilemma of getting Brad's tele's paisley.
