Back in high school, the '55 Chevy was considered the ultimate mod platform. They were everywhere, relatively cheap and with a full frame and relatively large engine bay (especially with judicious application of a sledge hammer to the firewall to clear those brand new GM HEI ignitions), one could do pretty much anything with them. When they got expensive, the fox-body Mustangs were all the rage.

With that in mind, I just ran across this at The Music Zoo on Reverb:

  • Roasted Black Limba Body
  • 25.5" Scale Length
  • Compensated Brass Saddles T-Style Bridge
  • 6 lbs, 8 oz.
  • .880" Neck Thickness at 1st Fret
  • 1.00" Neck Thickness at 12th Fret

There are other configurations available with pricing varying around that of a better partscaster ($850 - $1,000).

This looks pretty interesting as a mod platform, especially since it's lightweight and the neck is large enough I wouldn't have to change it out.

Anyone played one or own one?

the body cut reminds me of several models made by Godin. I've had several. still have one.... great guitars and pretty cheap for a guitar made in Canada with top flight gear

What's the point of having a limba body if you're just gonna cover it in black paint? <_< They shoulda done it up in Butterscotch Blonde Transparent.  Plus, how many pieces of limba did it take to make the body?
