RobB Posted October 14, 2025 Posted October 14, 2025 (edited) I probably paid a bit too much for this one, but the seller lowered the price by $200. It’s in great condition. Nicely-grained limba and a dark, streak-free ebony board. The Duncans are not original, contrary to the ad copy. Don’t know what they are yet, but I guess I’ll find out when I do a setup/stringing shortly. Plays fast and loose, weighing in at a hair under 8lbs. OHSC (Canada). I’ll post more pics later. I like the (comparatively) smaller headstock. I didn't notice that it is inlaid pearl until I looked closely. Very tight tolerances. 1st fret inlay, abalone dots. Sorry, @kizanski! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DiMarzio Super Distortions modded w/rough-cast A5 magnets. Warm and just the right amount of output. 6100 jumbos and a PLEK: Frets on the Net replica Charvel knobs. I had to enlarge the knobs' screw holes to 11/16" to use the original screws: Edited December 14, 2025 by RobB 13 2 Quote

BTMN Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 (edited) I have it’s Z brother too. These were released 1997-2000. Edited October 15, 2025 by BTMN 2 Quote

No, this one’s a medium, D-shape. There is a beautiful, korina Z on Reverb for more than double what I paid for the V. Expensive, but it shore is purty. 3 Quote

BTMN Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 Serial number has nothing to do with dating. Iirc 80xxx was the first set of serial numbers. The first ones were last ‘97- early 1998. The stopped imports in 2000 from Czech Republic. I will double check that info and get back to you. 1 Quote

I’ve got Brad over at Dean on the case, too. Oddly, he asked for a clear photo of the headstock front. 1 Quote

I think the top on yours is a little prettier than mine tho. 2 Quote
RobB Posted October 15, 2025 Author Posted October 15, 2025 (edited) Thanks! It turned out to be a great purchase. i’m going to remove the Duncans and install zebra super distortions with a magnet tweak. Edited October 15, 2025 by RobB 2 1 Quote
BTMN Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 Czech V headstock is called Series 3 unofficially. There are at least 4. First Deans then a slightly less pointy, these, and then the Korean sized which is also on the new Indonesian and Indian made stuff. 1 Quote
bruce919 Posted October 20, 2025 Posted October 20, 2025 Very cool guitar. I picked up one of those used at "Mars" music years ago very cheap. Flipped it a year or two later. Quote
benjammin308 Posted October 21, 2025 Posted October 21, 2025 I had a Czech Dean Cadillac that is really well made. Hog body, carved maple cap, wide neck with ebony board. My son has it now, his name is Dean... 1 1 Quote
