Dave Scepter Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Haven't watched the video yet, but that speaker frame reminds me of the old Altec Lansing 12's 2 1 Quote
bubs_42 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 You can find used Sugarcones on TGP now and again. I have not owned one, but any mention of a Fane makes my ears perk up. $199 and per their website a “Limited Release” I’ld like to try one. 2 1 Quote
DaveH Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Pete Thorn makes anything sound good. That said, for the most part, the vid makes me prefer the Sugarcone for sure. But that that being said, there are spots where the V30 definitely shines. 3 Quote

Menehune Posted February 9 Posted February 9 (edited) Scholz offers both the R-1 8/16 (ribbed cone) and the P-1 8/16 (plain cone.) The P-1 "enhances fidelity, increases note definition, and delivers a more transparent, uncolored tone for a more high-fidelity response," while the R-1 "is the ultimate evolution of the classic British guitar speaker, designed to deliver rich harmonic content, powerful projection, and unmistakable character." In short the P-1 is designed for pure aural intent, while the R-1 is ribbed for your pleasure. Choose wisely. Also note that Scholz changed the basket terminals to be adjacent, in line with other speaker makes. Edited February 9 by Menehune More info! 1 1 Quote
