Dave Scepter Posted January 31 Posted January 31 (edited) That's really cool... I'm gonna try this out on a few SD Invaders that I love the sound but been meaning to change out the Pole pieces because I just don't like the look of those giant allen screws... Thanks for sharing👍 Edited January 31 by Dave Scepter 2 Quote

django49 Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Not exactly the same thing, but you can get somewhat the same result if the two coils are wired in parallel rather than series. Which is to say, a softer tone and no hum. If you want to get carried away a bit, install a 3 way switch on each pickup, wired to allow SC, HB Series and HB parallel tones. That makes for a very versatile guitar IF you have a use for multiple tones on a single instrument. 3 Quote
Disturber Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Not the same thing as removing all screw poles. But probably a better sounding pickup: The Dimarzio Bluesbucker. Also, you don't look like a dork on stage; the guy playing a mongoloid humbucker without screw poles. 1 1 1 Quote
Jeff R Posted February 1 Posted February 1 If you're bugged by the look of empty holes, source 5-40 fillister head screws made from a non-magnetic or very weak magnetic material. Aluminum, brass, titanium and marine Grade 316 stainless steel immediately come to mind. 5 1 Quote
HamerHokie Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Would like to hear how this mod impacts the bridge pickup, as the polepieces are closer to the bridge. 2 Quote
