Dave Scepter Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Pretty cool, thanks for sharing... I thought about getting one of these for my pool area, but it might be just a little bit too much... think I'll just get a large boombox instead 😂 2 Quote
BruceM Posted March 1 Posted March 1 I own a pair of these, and I concur. Â They work quite well for their intended purpose. Â They're portable and plenty loud as a stereo and as a PA for performance with relatively low-volume instruments. 1 Quote
veatch Posted March 1 Posted March 1 That's a great price. Really trying to figure out how to justify this... 1 Quote
hamerhead Posted March 2 Author Posted March 2 After 3 years or so I don't miss the heavy-ass powered EVs/subs+amp/related crap that these replaced. They won't get as loud, but they never needed to. Plus, the dispersion is far better - you can walk side-to-side in front of them (nearly 180°) and the sound barely changes. The EVs couldn't do that. I set them almost as sidewashes - the band hears them just fine and they sound good out front, too. No more monitors! And for outside stuff I add a 350W 12" Rockville(!) powered sub with 1 XLR and a power cord. Gives it a nice little extra kick. 2 Quote
geoff_hartwell Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I bought one of these on a rec from here and loved it so much I bought a second one. If I had seen this on Sunday I would have bought another. @hamerhead: what model sub, does it have a crossover? Do you run it inline with hpf or separately? Thx 2 Quote
hamerhead Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 This one, Geoff: https://rockvilleaudio.com/collections/pa-subwoofers/products/rbg12s I just run it from the XLR 'out' on one of the the Harbinger subs. Works great. It's a cheap way to save the Harbingers a little abuse, and it has more than enough thump for us old f***ers. I really wasn't expecting it to be that good. They make a 10", 15" and 18", too. The 12" was best for me, both size- and dollar-wise. ....I should get another............hmmmmmmm.......... Â Â Â 1 Quote
hamerhead Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 Â ....well, actually a couple days....but we're not counting...... They seem to come up every 6 months or so, so be ready! 1 1 Quote
