Guitar modifications. Doing my own fretwork. Now I'm buying every guitar I've ever wanted along with amps and pedals. Oh, and a pickup set I got just for Peter Frampton's autograph. Guess what, I just suck. I needed to practice more and think less. Now it's too late. So I'll just sit here and look at all that I've acquired. 2 6 Quote
scottcald Posted Sunday at 07:55 PM Posted Sunday at 07:55 PM I watch all Shane's videos because he's a real, gigging musician. He'll always add that it's his opinion, but his playing's great, his tones I think are great and the reality is if you're getting gigs with names like he is, they don't care what you use as long as it sounds good and works. 2 1 Quote
Kerry Marchman Posted Tuesday at 02:03 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:03 PM Shane is the real deal... I have lots of great guitars and gear, but my mantra is, "I can suck equally on anything".... If i spent half as much time practicing as I do screwing around on the internet forums and screwing around with my gear, I'd still suck! So, that's why I love having the toys!! 😉 5 3 Quote
Montelovesco Posted yesterday at 06:45 AM Posted yesterday at 06:45 AM Hamer in the front, Peavey in the back - me like this. And he is absolutely right. If it comes to guitars or to photography, the gear rabbithole should not matter. But it dies, if course. It took me (like anybody else, I guess) several years to realize that more or „better“ gear doesn‘t make me a better player or photographer. It just makes you a player/photographer with less money… 5 Quote
hamerhead Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago My thing is to sound good on the crappiest gear. That hasn't worked, either. 2 Quote
mathman Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago just, pre acknowleabement. I didn't watch the video. based on the title... This assumes that I would make progress. As they say assume and make an ass out of U and ME Chasing gear is fun. Chasing sounds is fun. Chasing improvement in recordings is fun. That is why I do any of this anymore. Until I was 23 or 24 it was to make it big as a rock star... Then it was to have fun as a musician and recording nut. Definitely did not become rock star. but Have fun using this stuff over the last 50 years. HELL YEA! Now I will go and watch the video while my latest stupid video for my friends renders.... Quote
