riffpowers Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Still absolutely love the korina Jr, so I've been thinking about what my next hamer is gonna be.I was thinking that the artist might be the way to go.I was thinking about getting one in mahogany with P90's and a wrapover.I'm after something similar to my jr, same neck profile, similar feel/sound and something that I'd like as much.I had thought about a studio or something, but I thought that might be too similar to the korina jr, and I'm not mad keen on maple tops.I thought that the artist might have the same neck profile, similar shape/size/weight/feel/vibe, the neck pickup and f hole would give me a little something extra that my korina jr doesn't have, and I thought the fhole and mahogany construction might give it a slightly different flavour to the tone, similar but not identical to the korina jr.I was also hoping that the semi solid construction might give me a touch more feedback than my jr, so I can get that on the edge of feedback sustaining type sound.I was also hoping the artist might have a similar vibe to the jr tone wise, i.e. raw phat and dirty.Any artist owners out there wanna give me their opinion??And if you have/had a korina jr to compare it to, all the better!!
atquinn Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 My only thought is, you're going to be spending an awful lot more money just to get a wraparound tailpiece as opposed to a tuneomatic (this is assuming the alternative would be to get an AK P90 used). You might want to play a regular AK P90 first to see if the wraparound is really worth it.-Austin
riffpowers Posted July 31, 2006 Author Posted July 31, 2006 Yeah I had thought that.....This whole idea was sort of brought about by the fact i missed out on a great looking artist!!!Haven't seen any mahogany P90 artists for sale, I wonder if they made/sold many...
Punkavenger Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 silver sparkle is cool... can't belive someone hasn't taken you up on your generous offer!
Wayne Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 The SD Phat Cat (P90 style) that I use in the neck of my 1996 Artist Custom gives me the best guitar sound I can muster. Haven't changed my mind in 3+ years. If you are going with a P90, check out the Phat Cats.Wayne
BCR Greg Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Too bad we dropped that guitar on a running belt sander today.Sorry, Wayne.
