Would you trust this auction??

That's a rough one.

He has some Hamer-related history according to his feedback, so I don't doubt that he's a fan.

Giving the benefit of the doubt, I would just chalk it up to a poorly written auction.

Hey, he can't be all bad. He's a "musicvirtuoso" fercrissake!

DavidE's already on it, so we have at least one gambler in the group...

I threw a bid on the Diablo he's got up...so...hopefully he's legit...100% positive feedback so...can't be all bad...I guess he's just not the grammatical linguist's that we on the hfc are...lol :P:wub:

I never bid on auctions run by people who type whole paragraphs in all caps. I figure that if they can't figure out how to operate a keyboard, I ain't dealing with them.

But anyhow, he says "MADE OUT OF SOLID MAHOGONY" then he says "THIS GUITAR IS NECK-THRU". Well, it really can't be both of those things.

Also "ALL ORIGINAL 1981 HAMER SPECIAL SERIAL #13689 OR IT COULD BE A P-90,(I DON’T REALLY KNOW THE DIFFERENCE)" and then he says "HAS THE ORIGINAL INFAMOUS HAMER PICKUPS THAT BECAME SO POPULAR FOR THAT TIME AND ERA", and then he says "As an avid Hamer collector..."

If you want to bit on it, I'd say ask him for more pictures.

Soft-focus photography is all well and and good in 1970s Penthouse magazines, but doesn't fill me with confidence about an eBay seller...

Responding to your subject line question my answer is "no". Based on what is said and shown in the eBay ad, I would not take the risk of sending my money, waiting to see what arrives in the box, and have any hope of receiving fair value for the money sent. Hazy photos & too many inconsistencies to justify the risk. Does that sound "lawyerish" enough? ;-)

If I could close the deal in person, that is, meet the seller and have the opportunity to inspect the instrument before handing over the cash......then maybe. But if and ONLY if I had a WAY HUGE Overpowering Jones to own that particular instrument. And further, that I so rarely saw one that met my expectations {and this one met all my expectations} that I couldn't possibly wait another few months for another specimen to appear on the market. Then maybe.

In summary.....hold yer money 'n' wait.
