ford Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 SOLD!!!!!!!!!!! to a fine HFC member.... glad to see it stay with the right peeps... Mirage Maple Top. I'm the original owner. No dings on body or neck. Light surface scratches only..mainly swirl marks and some pick scratching but very light. There is some rust on the bridge and oxidation on the pickup covers and a little on the tuners. Some rusted screws also. My 3 year old daughter did somehow manage to lose the tip that goes on the pickup selector. These are obviously very cheap to replace. Everything is original. JB bridge and 59 neck pickup. Wilkinson trem. I've never used the trem. It's just not my thing, but it is still here, sitting in the original case. Case has some wear, but is in very good condition. I'll add the serial number when I get home today. SERIAL NUMBER IS 646138 Here are some newer and better pics. Looking for 800 bucks shipped to you in the CONUSA... USPS money order preferred. Feel free to make offers also. Email with questions or offers. No trades please. I just had my first transaction on this site two weeks ago. I purchased a T51 from Teledave. Thanks! bford
hamersandstrats Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 These are great guitars, very versatile and underrated.
Travis Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Damn you. These are great guitars and I will own one some day. However, this is not the season for expendable income for me. Someone will be getting a good deal on a killer guitar.

Someone will be getting a good deal on a killer guitar.Yes, I know it's not the best time for everyone to buy, but I thought I would place it here so it might be able to stay in the loving arms of a true Hamer fanatic. It is a great guitar, and I could keep it, but I just am not going to be playing it enough and it deserves to be played. If possible, it deserves to rock out! We've played many shows together, but I did my best to take care of it! My bandmates always laughed about how I wiped it down and never let anyone I did not know play it. Yes, I know that might sound selfish, but for several years, it and my Daytona were my two great guitars. (My Daytona is my favorite guitar!)I promised new better pics tonight, but instead we took the kids to go and see Santa. Yep the big guy took presidence. Please email with any questions.rockbford
seeker Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I'm highly interested. Does Wilkie (or others, Callaham??) make drop in replacements for the bridge? I can live with grunge, but would be nice to know I could replace it if I want. How are the frets? How thick/thin is the neck? Know that Mirage necks are definitely thinner than those now, but they all seem to vary somewhat in that mid-90s time.I'm normally in the same boat as others (no disposable moolah for the holidays), but (long explanation) have some this time around. Thanks!

Thanks! The neck is right in the middle for me. Not to chunky, but not thin like an Ibanez in any way. No dead spots on the frets. There is some wear but they didn't seem to wear nearly as quickly as my Daytona's frets, Which I'm about to have a fret job done on. Wilky makes a direct replacement for it and I've been told almost any six screw vintage style trem would probably drop right in. I actually asked this question recently, and I'll find the link to the answer for it for you. As always, ask a question about a Hamer here, and someone answers!rockbford
ford Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 The replacement Wilkinson trem is the Wilkinson licensed VSV-G... they retail for 145 but can obviously be had for less. I was actually thinking about replacing it myself maybe sometime in the next year, but then I bought the Robin Avalon. rockbford
atquinn Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 The bridge on my Mirage I was a bit grungy when I got it, but it cleaned up great with a bit of metal cleaner (brasso I think, but I'm not a home to check it). You might also be able to just get replacement saddles, which would cost far less than a bridge. BTW, I can vouch for the current VSVG's being drop-in replacements since I put a black one in my first Mirage I.-Austin

ford Posted December 13, 2006 Author Posted December 13, 2006 I don't think that's the exact model on the Mirage like the other one, but I remember reading about that one on TGP and I bet it would work also.Good find, thanks!rockbfordRemember people, don't be afraid to email or pm with questions!
