I love mine (Combo version of Brooks' Studio 22+ ). Can't beat it at that price - or more. Loud as hell for 22 watts...

Brooks,

I don't think it's a modded combo.

They did sell a rack version of the head (I think it was the only head the sold of the Studio 22). Lots of folks back then used it as a preamp to drive their rack power amp. That's why.

After I stopped gigging I sold my MarkIV (didn't need the power or the lbs) and picked up a Studio 22+ combo and a matching 1x12 cab from RacerX (btw, a very good guy to do biz with). The Studio requires some time to get familiar with how the controls interact with each other. Not huge time, for me it was about an hour, but my experience with the MkIV may have helped. but i digress. As expected VOL, MASTER & LEAD MASTER have very close & sensitive interaction. However, its not anywhere near as complex as the Mark IV. Once you get channel 1 & 2 where you like them go over to the EQ and dial that in. You end up with..... Ch1 with or without EQ and Ch2 with or without EQ. Depending on how you set up the EQ, you can have Ch1 & Ch2 w/wo a boost, Ch1 & Ch2 w/wo scoopage or........ It is a truly nice flexible & portable little amp.

In the volume department, the 22+ is a killer, like most Mesa products. It can get waaaay loud! Far more volume than you would expect from 22w. Plenty for the bar gigs we use to do.

I don't know why but much like our beloved Eclipse, the Studio 22+ doesn't get the love it deserves from the GAS demographic thus you can get it at stupid low bargain prices. IMHO....Attention buyers, make sure you get the 22+ like Brooks', the EQ makes a major diff.

Best of luck with the sale Brooks. The buyer is gonna get a great amp. I hope you will also get a great & well earned wad of cash.
