kurtsstuff Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I purchased this head from a fellow HFC'r (for cheap) and promptly sent it to Rivera for a complete refurb/retube/bias and ordered and recieved a brand new footswitch to go with the amp. I paid the HFC'r $280.00 for the amp plus another $537.00 for the work done and footswitch..I'd like to break even and sell the amp for $817.00 plus shipping??
kurtsstuff Posted April 28, 2005 Author Posted April 28, 2005 Ok,Ok....$800.00 shipped?? or..Trades??
kurtsstuff Posted April 28, 2005 Author Posted April 28, 2005 Hi David....Well...to answer your question....$130.00 for the footswitch....another $120.00 for tubes..$287.00 in parts and labor which included replacing one of the OHM's selector switches as well as replacing the Chorus circuit board and of course biasing the amp as well as the cost of shipping the amp back and forth. It's never cheap in getting an amp fixed..especially from these quasi boutique type of manufacture's...
kurtsstuff Posted April 28, 2005 Author Posted April 28, 2005 yeah...parts were actually kinda cheap...It was the frickin labor that clocked in at about $180.00 or so..anyways...the amp is like new again and sounds simply wonderful but...I'm just not a stereo kinda guy....Does that make me one dimensional??? lol!
Scooter Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Brother, I'd LOVE to try that bad boy! (Even though I'm still lovin' my new JSX.)
kurtsstuff Posted April 29, 2005 Author Posted April 29, 2005 Brother, I'd LOVE to try that bad boy! (Even though I'm still lovin' my new JSX.) Yeah....if it was'nt stereo I'd keep it....I mean...it must just be a phobia of mine or sumthin cuz the amp sounds frickin great! I split one of my 4x12's for stereo operation so...Without the spread of separate cabinets...it's kinda mono and sounds huge!! I could use just one output at 60 watts but...man...that would be such a waste...
kurtsstuff Posted May 4, 2005 Author Posted May 4, 2005 Hey!!! somebody buy or trade me sumthin for this Dammit!!!
kurtsstuff Posted May 7, 2005 Author Posted May 7, 2005 ok...one more bump before E-bay...come on!!! lol!!
tomteriffic Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 I'm failing to bond with my Mesa F-50 and was considering a Rivera, although this may be a bit more amp than I was after. Hmmmmm.
black magic Posted May 12, 2005 Posted May 12, 2005 Kurt, what kinda tone do these things have without a stomp box? Mostly Speed Metal and the like. Can it do scooped Recto sound, or is it more Marshal sounding or? Thanks-Jack.

Hey Jack..It'll do blackface clean, bassman honk...recto scoop (to a degree)...and marshall bark! and it's a great lower volume "shred" amp up until you get the power tubes workin then it's big and ballsy!!
