phoenix Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Its about a month away. I wanted to get a rough idea who will be in the area and might want to get together and share gear or just hang out. Saturday is the best day but I have cleared the whole weekend if people want to come another day. I would like to arrange for plenty of good food and beverages so I wanted a preliminary head count if folks know their travel/family plans. Kids welcome if it helps. We can play songs outside and leave the noodlefest/ gear trials for inside ...this time the pansies will be peppers by then. steve
Stokesdead Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Me and the wife would love to attend. We will decide whether or not to bring the kids a little closer to the event. Right now we haven't decided about the youngins. ~CS
thecajunboy Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Looks like I ain't gonna be able to make it. Changes here at work regarding my schedule make it impossible to take vacation time that week. I was planning to haul ass up there with a coupla sacks of crawfish and a boiling rig. Maybe next year.
gwayne Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Steve, Put me down as a probably - subject to last minute overtime assignment. I'll need a place to crash, too (nuthin' fancy - just somewhere to throw a sleeping bag).
Jack C Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I believe I'm in this year. Looking for a place to lay down and pass out, too.
phoenix Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 Jack and Gary, I know I have space, and probably beds but it will be close. I might have to break out the camping air mattresses in which case easily.Cajun, Ill send you my info. Feel free to stop by whenever you are in the area.
elduave Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 The Peers' are looking into it. We have a rare 3 days away from the store.
Jack C Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Steve, I could use a corner of the floor - or I can grab a hotel room. No biggie either way.
phoenix Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 3 extra bedrooms (now that my stepson has moved out) but only 4 extra beds and one is small plus couches. We'll make due.
jettster Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 If it's cool, we would like to try and make it for Saturday. The better half has always wanted to visit the Biltmore so, she would be glad to put up with some guitar playing if we could fit that in on Sunday?? Are you located close to the Biltmore? That way we could use the same hotel for Sat and Sun. Also on the same note, any hotel recommendations, any idea how it would be to visit the Biltmore on a holiday like that, tips, etc? Thanks
phoenix Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 2 right turns, about 10 minutes. There are hotels in Biltmore and Holiday Inns, Best Westerns etc. just outside the gate. We go there on busier days like Easter. It is super well organized with shuttles etc.

BadJaxx Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 we're looking into being there...always thought Asheville was a pretty town...
Guest Meshuggah Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I'd like to move there or somewhere up the front range. No chance you'd overlook my being there and not ask me to pickup a guitar is there?
phoenix Posted April 25, 2007 Author Posted April 25, 2007 sure. come hang. I doubt I'll play either unless someone has doubts about their talent or I need to chase vermin out of the house.
elduave Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Looks like we're gonna come down! Steve, what kind of family stuff is there to do?Mods, request to pin this thread.
phoenix Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 Playground about 150 yards away, we have an inflatable pool set up for my daughter Caroline who is almost 4, toys in the house and movies. lots of other playgrounds. Up the road 5 miles is the Fun Depot with endless games and go carts indoors, mini golf etc. Downtown (9 minutes) is like Greenwich village in NYC so lots to wander around. Also on main st is the Health Adventure activity center. basically a building set up for every age kid, and the nature center is nearby. I think Shiloh is about 6 right? Also the stream waterfalls and swings at the bottom of my house kids seem to love to play in.
butcher Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Steve, as long as the man doesn't make me work a Saturday, I should see you there. All I need is a small piece of real estate to rest my old bones. I'd love to see old hard heartif there's any way he could make an appearance. (C'mon Brooks, I know you can make it too).I'd love to see the rest of the usual suspects, but unfortunately Wyldbil will be elusive unless we canconjure him out of the bonfire. There will be a bonfire, right??. Count me as one unless karma hasanother plan.
phoenix Posted April 27, 2007 Author Posted April 27, 2007 Great Al, It wouldn't be a party without you. Sure, I built a fire pit as part of a stone bench and sitting area next to the stream. Even a place for matches and wet gloves. I'll find somewhere nice for you to snooze. I've been trying to figure out something for Wyldbil. I hope everyone can make it if the time opens up. What guitars and amps are you (is everybody) bringing? I might need to grab my stepson and his drum set, bass, mic, etc so we can do something proper. On second thought, I might start calling around for a band. I got the Jamaican restaurant I supply with hot sauce set up to deliver plates of delicacies for a full day feast.
Brooks Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 I'd love to see old hard heartif there's any way he could make an appearance. (C'mon Brooks, I know you can make it too).sorry butcher, i'd love to but i have wall to wall gigs/lessons/rehearsals, plus i may have found a full time job(!).
Jack C Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Steve - If it would help, I can bring drums and/or a bass rig. I was planning on bringing my R7 and maybe an amp head (Orange or 18 watt).
jettster Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 I have a few combo amps, was thinking about bringing the Budda SD18 and H&K Switchblade. I also have an Orange Rocker 30, Yamaha/Soldano T50C and Valvetronix AD60VTX. (All 1x12 combos) I can switch things around if someone wants to try anything specific.Depending on how things pan out, we may be heading up to Ohio on vacation after NC. If that is the case, I will probably bring some kind of beater guitar that I don’t mind leaving in the car for a while. If that doesn’t pan out, I will likely bring a Diablo II and G&L Legacy Deluxe.I enjoy listening as much as playing and don’t have to have a band or anything formal in order to have fun. For that matter I have a blast just talking gear and general BSing. I think once we get a few gear heads together we won’t have any problem staying entertained. Is there anything that you need any help with for this??
