Craig S Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 I picked up a Morely Classic wah for next to nothing and that's precisely what it's worth.. I need a wah for two songs and this thing sucks/colors tone so bad that it's not even worth having in the chain(actually I have a Switchblade so it's the only thing in the chain). Any wahs out there that don't cost a fortune and don't do this? I know I can route a loop and kick it out of the chain altogether but I don't what to have to bother with that kind of setup.
BCR Greg Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 I use a Tech21 Killer Wail. Awesome. They are discontinued, but you can find them out there...
DavidE Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 I'm pretty happy with my Morley Bad Horsie Wah and I love the switchless design.
mattb Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Teese Wizard works great for non-tone suckage. Mine failed recently (because I've been gigging with it for the past 3 years) I have to send it back to have them fix it, so I just picked up a CryBaby Classic with the Fasel inductor. Sounds pretty damn good. For 100 bucks it's a great Wah.
MCChris Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 It really depends on your budget. Lots of true bypass options out there.
anotherfreak2 Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 For $100 you can't beat the Crybaby Classic. we sell a lot of "modded" crybabies, bypass, LED's, Fasel Inductors, the works, all for $149 I miss the killer wail
vockins Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 I don't use a wah much, but my father's old late 60s Halifax/Hofner Z fuzz wah tears the roof off. These things rarely appear on ebay, but when they do, they go for $20-40. Absolutely worth it. It kills the Vox, the Crybaby, etc., cost disregarded. Get one before someone famous starts using it and they jump 20x in price.
Jeff R Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 +1 on the Killer Wail Wah. I love mine. I don't know if it's true bypass or not, but it definitely doesn't suck out tone. The cool thing about it is the voice switch - it's got three settings. Hit the "extended" voice and that tone is incredibly vowel'y, even in high gain situations.
