KeyOfZ Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 Just saw that he finally put this guitar up on the chopping block. I had never seen an Ovation Electric guitar before he showed this to me. I thought it might interest someone on this board. Check it out!!! Ovation GP Solidbody Guitar with case Rare Collectable
Guest teefus2 Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 i think that is like the one that josh homme from QOTSA uses.
silentman Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 you might want to link this on the ovationfanclub.com site. Although chances are they already know aboot it.
Nuclear Wessel Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 I don't remember those. Just the Preacher and Viper models.I love that magazine ad. Very 80's.
GusS Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 that's the Ovation Ultra GP that's currently worth almost $3,000 due to the fact that Queens Of The Stone Age are popular and people love cloning their idols. Which is ironic because the reason why Josh Homme bought one in the late 80's/early 90's while in Kyuss was because he had never seen another one. It's about as pathetic as the Airline guitars suddenly going for megabucks due to Jack White. Before 'Songs For the Deaf' broke, i.e. 2001/2002 they were worth $5-700. I believe they were assembled in the USA with parts from Korea.
Guest cruster Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 Josh Homme no longer plays his GP, from what someon recently posted over on the OFC I think he's endorsing some Australian boutique guitars now, but as always, it's highly likely that I'm somehow mistaken.(edited because no two message boards seem to have links specified the same way)
Guest Buck Dharma Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 They are supposed to be very nice players and pretty rare. I think Alpep probably knows all about them as he is a dealer and has some of the other Ovation electrics on his website. Here is a link to some new import copies of them but has some good info on the Ovation.Ovation copy
cmatthes Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 QOTSA are on SNL this weekend. If he breaks out one of those, the going price could be a lock for a little while longer!
BadJaxx Posted May 13, 2005 Posted May 13, 2005 per the Blue Book, body and neck made in Korea....doesn't list a value...only retail price of $399...$2k huh....LOLi had a Breadwinner in the late 80s...
custom53 Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 I really like my Ovation (Breadwinner). Bought new in '75... And so does Flipp and Ace...
Guest cruster Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Breadwinners are very cool. IM!HO, Klein stole the design. I think even Ed Roman is offering one of his brands in a 'Breadwinner' shape, now. That tells you something right there, eh?
