what do these go for used? looking for a special or a junior.... in the <600 range.... special year 92ish... yeah, I shoulda bought papa's... anyone compare a rev daredevil to a hamer special?

$500-700 would sound about right for a 90s Special, although I've seen some go for just under that once or twice by someone on eBay or elsewhere not knowing what they had.

Hamer Juniors will be in the +1000 dollar range easy.

I have a 94' P90 special in TV yellow with Lollar pickups. It don't get much play time so I would let it go. Send me an email if you are interested. I would do $700 shipped and paypal'd (CONUS). mdk27529@hotmail.com

With the Lollars, that's a great deal.

I guess Hamer gets more money for the Jr because they can. It seems to me that it should be the cheapest guitar in the product line. A slab guitar with one pickup, no binding..... I dunno. Then you look at the Special K very similar guitar, but even more money. I'm glad I got my new Hamers a few years ago, I don't ever see me being able to afford another new one.

BTW - I don't begrudge them making a buck, they should feel free to charge whatever the market will bear. They are still a way better deal than a new Gibson.

Because the Junior is a completely different model-it's much newer. The Specials when they were introduced in 1992 listed at $800 (and sold for less new). The Juniors had a street price of closer to $2k when they came out. Hamer is also a much different company now than it was in the early 90s. They make far fewer guitars, smaller shop in a different state, fewer people making them, etc.

I like the old 90s Specials, but the newer Juniors are MUCH better instruments IMHO-they're superb (at least every one of about two dozen that I've played). There are a handful of mahogany Juniors, but those were usually custom-spec'd and priced accordingly. Korina Juniors are also out there and are a regular Hamer catalog item, but they're korina and thus going to cost a bunch more than a mahogany guitar.

It seems to me that it should be the cheapest guitar in the product line. A slab guitar with one pickup, no binding..... I dunno.

For the same reason a Gibson Historic Explorer or Flying V (slab body-no binding anywhere) is more than a 56 or 57 RI Goldtop (or even an R9 flametop for that matter) with carved tops, bound body and neck, etc. Traditional logic doesn't always factor into the equation.
