Hamer Diablo on this cover?

I was reading latest issue of Guitar Player and my eyes caught an ad of guitar instrumentals compilation called The Dream of the Electric Guitars, Volume 1. What struck me - the guitar on the cover looks like Hamer Diablo, and it looks identical to one I own (remember LadyScary was selling burst Diablo with birds eye maple neck?)... I was trying to find any contacts of the publisher but no luck so far. What the jury of the board will say - is that really burst Diablo? Any clues how to contact the publisher to get info what was the guitar on the cover? Now I'm really curios to get the info :P

Hmm-looks like an import on the cover (black headstock face, black paint in the Floyd recess), but that could just be my monitor. Did they make import Diablos? I don't pay that much attention to the import stuff at all.

They did make import Diablos.. non-reverse heads.. most of them I've seen have been trans green.. with and without boomers.

My first thought was an Import Diablo as well. As JB mentioned, Green seems to be a popular color for those, but I've also seen natural and a light burst finish somewhat regularly.

I thought import Diablos had pickup rings? Anyway, there's no way to match that picture to any particular guitar; the color is too common and the picture is not detailed enough to check for grain matching.

got an answer from publisher that the picture came from artwork people and they have no idea what is that guitar on the cover. Case closed with no resolution :P

huh, compared guitar with the picture - wood grain matches quite well (as far as I can see in this resolution). And the funniest thing - when looking at floyd rose, intonation tuners stands exactly in a way as I got the guitar - low E up, others all way down. Actually remember that well just because I did floyd intonation setup only week ago, and found that screws holding intonation block where loose :P If that guitar cuold speak :P

Looking at the picture, I'm 99.9% sure it's a USA Diablo. The fretmarker dots at the 12th fret are spaced closer like a USA Hamer and the Floyd is squared off like the Schaller model Hamer used. It's probably a 94'-97' model (when they went to the non-reverse headstock). There's an import Diablo on ebay right now that you can look at for reference, but you'll see the Floyd and dot inlays are definitely different from the ones on the guitar on the cover.

I'd say it's hard to figure out from that photo on the book, but since there is no way to disprove it, I vote it's yours!

I'd make up some cool story about how the publishers were looking for the pinnacle of rockawesomeness and begged you to allow your guitar on the cover...
