Stokesdead Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I am looking to pick up an acoustic. I am not a big acoustic player so don't need anything super nice (nor can i afford it.) Kinda leaning towards a Seagull or similarly priced guitar. Anybody have anything they would like to sell? Oh and needs to have electronics. Thanks,Chris Stokes
Jimbilly Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I'm fresh out of spare cheap acoustics but I like Seagulls, I had a really nice one with a hard case that took months to get $250 out of on Craigslist (solid top too!, but no electronics). Some of the Korean Ibanez AW series are pretty cool for $300-ish, as are some of the Korean Fenders. Your local tech should be able to install the LR Baggs system in any acoustic for about $175, those are great.
currypowder Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I'm not selling it right now, but I really like the way my Ovation 1778t plays and sounds. Built in preamp as well. I had 2 at one time and sold the red one. The actual guitar I sold is over at the gear page for $579 here:http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthrea...ghlight=ovationIt's one of the last ones made in the USA before they shipped their production of these overseas.Let me know if you're not a member over there and I'll put you in touch with the seller.
Rocktuna Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I have an Ovation Celebrity CC48 in Transparent redburst flametop that I'd sell for $250.00 plus shipping with a roadrunner gig bag. It's in great cond.
Stokesdead Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 I appreciate the offer. I have just never gotten used to the ovation design. The bowl just rolls too much for me while I am playing.
Submariner85 Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I have an Aria AW-20CE acoustic electric that I picked up for 160.I wasted my money as, even with truss rod adjustments, I haven't been able to get the buzz out of the E strings around frets 11-13.The features initially seemed great, spruce top, set neck good electronics, decent tuners but got worse the longer I had it and that hasn't been long.I wouldn't sell it because I would feel like I ripped somebody off no matter what I got for it.I would recommend to stay away from these.
Stokesdead Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Thanks for the heads up. I found a Takamine FP350-SM-SB on ebay that looks nice. I may try and put a bid in on it. Anyone have any info on these tak's? I believe it is solid spruce top, maple laminate back and sides. Should I be concerned about not having solid back and sides? Thanks,Chris Stokes
Submariner85 Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I was pissed at mine but had some spare time today so I took it apart, shimmed the bridge and adjusted the neck some more. Buzz gone. It's actually playable now even though it's still a cheap piece of crap.
backinit Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I have an Alverez that I puchased new in 2004 (anniversary model). That was $300ish with a case. I would recommend it as a cheap acoustic.
