BadgerDave Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Not sure if this is legit or a scam, but it seems pretty suspect.I got a call on my cell this morning from a number I didn't recognize - 330 area code. The full number is 330 433-5833.The caller had a heavy accent and said she was calling about a PayPal payment. She wanted me to make a payment on my Pay Pal Buyer Credit account over the phone to "avoid a late fee". I told her I'd log in and make a payment online. I started getting suspicious as she got more aggressive about the telephone transaction and when she started to ask for more information. She wanted me to give her my home address. I suspect the request for account and billing info would have followed if I hadn't cut her off.Sure enough, when I checked my account, there's no payment due for 2 weeks. The scary thing is that she knew my cell number and that I had a PayPal account. She also knew my credit balance and approximately what the monthly payment due is. So, this could be PayPal trying to collect cash before its due or it could be something worse. Be careful out there

MCChris Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 This is why:1.) I never answer the phone if I don't know the caller's number (if it's important, they can leave a voice mail and I'll call back)2.) I don't deal with eBay/Paypal
