atquinn Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 It seems like there are all-Korina versions of most of Hamer's current models (Artist, Newport, Standard, Junior), but I don't believe I've ever seen an all-Korina Studio or Monaco Elite. What's up with that?-Austin
kselbee Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 What does Korina sound like? I've never played one.
DaxT1138 Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 seeker has a korina studio custom with victories that's pretty sweet, but i havent seen a korina Elite yet either.
atquinn Posted July 21, 2005 Author Posted July 21, 2005 It just seems like Korina is such an "it" wood that more people would be ordering it. Maybe there's a huge upcharge for it? Anyway, a Korina Studio Cusom with victories would definitely be a good-looking guitar.kselbee, as far as what Korina sounds like, I understand it sounds similar to Mahogany, but I guess it's lighter and has a bit more top end. I'm kind of talking out my @ss though, since I've never had a Korina guitar.-Austin
edgar_allan_poe Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Maybe there's a huge upcharge for it?Yup...
DaveH Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 How about a korina HB Special Custom? I guess that's what you would call it. Anyway, to me and with all things being equal, mahogany and korina are very similiar in the tone department. I do think korina has a bit more defined 'chunk' to it, but the electronics can even that up. Just my opinion.
bruce919 Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 You can order one. its about a $450 list upcharge over the mahogany version models.
serial Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 Last I heard, the korina upcharge was $400 list. Not bad considering how much other manufacturers charge for it and the Hamer wood is the best.
silentman Posted July 21, 2005 Posted July 21, 2005 $400 was the upcharge when I ordered my Standard 2 years ago.
