hamersandstrats Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 True that-the Special FM is not lighter then the Studio. If anything, the Special FM has more maple on top.I think of the Special FM as a better sounding Studio with a flat top.
holLoWskull Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 I've been watching what the prices of Special FM's have been on ebay and they definitely as a general rule seem to be up from where they were even just a year ago. I've seen some super nice looking ones even go for $750 on ebay! It almost seems that now a Special FM has actually caught up to or even slightly surpassed the going rate of an unbound\dot board Studio in similar shape. There are always exceptions though, but I would agree that $600 on up is probably the normal range for one in nice shape.

Brownsound Posted March 9, 2005 Author Posted March 9, 2005 Saw one that just went for $570...should have kept bidding but the guy only had 2 feedback and I just didnt connect with the guitar. I would think that the archtop Studio would have more weight sort of like a Les Paul Vs a Les Paul special. I guess a Mirage would be a cool guit as well. Ill keep looking. I did get a Studio...now Im GASing for another Hamer.
