BadgerDave Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 PRICE LOWERED TO $3,000.00 THROUGH FRIDAY, THEN OFF TO EBAY 2005 Orca, formerly owned by two HFCers, I recently acquired it in a trade. List of features: Nik Huber Custom built Korina Orca 1 piece Korina Body with Fatback option 1 piece Korina neck 1 Piece Eastern Maple top Flamed Maple Fingerboard binding Scraped binding on body Slight belly cut Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard with Pearl Dots Haussel Vintage and Vintage Plus Pickups 2 Volume and 2 tone with Coil Tap Matching Flamed maple headstock Maple pickup rings Korina Control Cavity covers Nickel hardware Tonepros Bridge Brazilian Rosewood trussrod cover and tuner knobs Shot in Nitro, with Satin finish on the neck Upgraded Case Photos courtesy of a former owner who may identify himself if he chooses. (Thanks!) The guitar suffered a crack on the back corner/edge of the peghead as pictured here: This did not effect the structural integrity of the neck and was masterfully repaired by Greg Platzer. The repair is perfect and completely invisible. If I hadn't told you, you would never know. I traded two guitars very conservatively valued at $3500.00 to acquire this one, and that's what I'd like to get out of it. I'll cover shipping within the US and payPal fees at that price. I can ship outsiode of the US at the buyer's cost and risk. BTW, Nik will no longer ship Orcas into the US, so these are pretty hard to find. I'm not looking for trades but I might consider an attractive Trussart (plus cash). Thanks for looking
edgar_allan_poe Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 I stole this off of Kiz for a little while. Absolutely killer guitar. $3500 is a steal for this. I would bet a new one would run you upwards of $6500-$7000
veatch Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 <Salute!> I did *NOT* need to see that... If you see any reports of a rash of liquor store robberies in the Detroit area over the next few days, that was not me trying to raise some cash... Good luck with the sale.
santellavision Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Hubers are just amazing. I'm having a huge love affair with my Dolphin. (I know that doesn't sound right)
MCChris Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 If you see any reports of a rash of liquor store robberies in the Detroit area over the next few days, that was not me trying to raise some cash... Nope. Just business as usual in the fair city.
sirDaniel Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 I would bet a new one would run you upwards of $6500-$7000you mean there are any of us hacks left that have that kind of disposable income sitting around? that's like 19x three fiddy hamers.that said, what badger is asking is pretty low for that mona lisa
edgar_allan_poe Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 you mean there are any of us hacks left that have that kind of disposable income sitting around? that's like 19x three fiddy hamers.Dude...I hear you. No way I could drop that kind of ching on a guitar. Spectacular though it may be, I just couldn't justify that to my wife. Shit, the only reason I have an Orca is because it had the neck busted off and I got it for a fraction of what it would have cost me before I had Greg do the repair.
BadgerDave Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 I suggest raiding the kids' college fund.Letting them work their way through school is a great way to build character. I would bet a new one would run you upwards of $6500-$7000you mean there are any of us hacks left that have that kind of disposable income sitting around? that's like 19x three fiddy hamers.that said, what badger is asking is pretty low for that mona lisa
BCR Greg Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 This guitar would be at least $6k to get another one, IF YOU COULD.Badger Dave is tops, kids.I would have taken this off Kizanski's hands had the business not been so low right now. Awesome guitar.
hamersandstrats Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 There is a Huber dealer a few minutes away from me and I can say with 100% certainty that the two models I played were the nicest electric guitars I've ever had in my grubby hands. I'm not sure if they were Orcas, but they were singlecuts with humbuckers. One had a maple/rosewood neck though. The craftsmanship is just superb, and both were featherweights.
sirDaniel Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 hmmmmmm.....do i translate this into the fact that you'll trade the guitar for 2 college kids?if so PM SENT!!!!!!!
santellavision Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Everyone needs to one a Huber once in their life. They are that good.
