holLoWskull Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 Doesn't get played enough, so (FINAL PRICE DROP BEFORE EBAY) first $450 $425 $399 (if paying w/ a USPS money order) shipped/insured to a CONUS address takes it. If you want to use Paypal that's fine, just please pay the fees. 1996 Cruisebass 5-string w/ the first generation 2-Tek bridge. As you can see from the pictures, it's seen plenty of playing in it's lifetime (just not by me) It's a tank at 10 lbs. 13 oz. on my digital scale, but it sure does sound and play good. I tried to show the numerous chips, impressions, dings, and cracks in the finish, as well as some minor pitting on some of the tuner buttons, so this guitar is definitely NOT a museum piece. I'm gonna rate it as maybe Fair or 7.0/10 cosmetic shape, but frets are suprisingly in good shape and everything but the truss rod cover and pickguard is there (and yes, even the serial number!) Comes w/ a padded gig bag. Note on the crack near the bridge...when I bought this I was told by the seller (Daddy's Music) it was a finish crack. I'm not sure if it's wood or finish to be honest. It looks like finish (it stops at the bottom of the guitar and hasn't gotten any bigger), but the fact that it travels along the front, down the finish in near the route for the 2-Tek and to the back makes me wonder. Maybe someone knowledgeable in wood working and/or finishing would know? Regardless, it hasn't gotten any bigger or moved in the almost 2 years I've owned the bass and everything seems to sound and feel like the wood is solid. I'd rather throw out the worst case scenario and have it turn out to be just in the finish then just lump it in with all the other finsish blemishes.
holLoWskull Posted November 4, 2009 Author Posted November 4, 2009 Mid-week bump with a $425 shipped/insured price. Cheaper than the ones on ebay and no reserve
killerteddybear Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 What's the string spacing at the bridge?
holLoWskull Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 What's the string spacing at the bridge?just measured it and it looks like string spacing is 5/8" from center to center between each of the 'fingers' of the 2-Tek bridge.
killerteddybear Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Thanks. That would kill my fat hands...
Jimbilly Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I think anybody who has one would buy yours, - if they didn't already have one, I'm really surprised you still have it. Those are great basses, and I'll bet Mr Keller has a few pickguards and truss covers.
holLoWskull Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 I'm surprised it still hasn't sold either. I'll knock the price down to $399 shipped/insured if an HFC'er is willing to pay w/ USPS money order (or pay the Paypal fees), but any lower than that and I can probably part it out for more. With the recent Eclipse purchase it absolutely has to go, so I'll give it a few more days here and then off to ebay Sunday if no one here wants it.
carfish7 Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 My PM didn't fly after a coule tries for some reason. Tell me where to send a USPS M.O. for your measly $399, and we'll save this from the spectre of the unwashed masses on Ebay, alright? Does this have the asymmetrical neck carve along with the solid granite-like weight? My old one was 10#+ as well. God, I miss that bass! Thanks! Z 612-703-3990 PS Stike can make this look as good as I'm hoping it sounds. Z

God, I miss that bass!holLoWskull's original post mentions that this thing is just 3 oz. shy of 11 lbs. That should do it for ya.Not too long ago I swore that the next time I saw a 2-Tek Cruise for under $500, let alone a five-er, I'd be all over it. But tastes and needs change, and with two totally flattened discs in my lower neck I have to pass on an 11-lb. bass. So have at it, carfish!

Moose Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 With shipping and the box being typically around $50... Did we just see the mythical Three Fifty? Stupid cheap for a bass with 2tek. Play it in good health Carfish.

It's a buyer's market for sure, and I was/am a motivated seller w/ the arrival of the Eclipse that will show up on next month's statement. I'm sure Carfish will be pleased.
