Moose Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 For sale -- Artist in near mint condition. This one is cool and somewhat rare in a couple of odd ways -- the serial number is 151515, and it is equipped with Phat Cats. Very minimal play wear, no worming, no dings, frets are almost like new. I am very gentle on my guitars, and this one has seldom left my home studio. The only things that let you know it isn't new are a tiny patch of hameritis at the neck join and the obvious mods, which include pointers under the knobs and the custom backplate. Neck is a beefy Vintage profile. I don't think the phatcats are factory, but I didn't order the guitar. I bought this used here on the board 5 or 6 years ago. If you use Dunlop strap locks, I will include a brand new set to replace the dull ones I have on there now.
bubs_42 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Just wanted to give props to the Moose. I just purchased a guitar from him and recieved it "Very" well packed and it looks better than was described. Sounds even better than it looks.
Moose Posted November 19, 2009 Author Posted November 19, 2009 Thanks, Bubs. That guitar was my baby, though they all are, it seems. I'd so love to keep this one, but I have too many guitars and I need cash more. I have been meaning to get rid of the ones I play the least for a while, now, as I have a lot of duplicates, and it feels wrong to just leave them in their cases.I have a '96 artist with a wrap bridge that's the twin to my very first Hamer. And I've grown to really love wrap bridges. So, that's the one I decided to hang on to and 15^3 goes to a new and, hopefully, loving home. This one has a nicer vintage neck by my preferences and a spectacular top. If it had a wrap bridge, I'd take it to the grave with me.If anyone needs any more info, or other pics, just let me know.
gtone Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Great guit - super price. Good luck with your sale!
Moose Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 OK -- I just gave it a goodly price drop, but at this price I'll put a boring normal backplate on it. I'll keep the bone man for a future Hamer I might buy, you get a good price on a great guitar.Oh -- I think I forgot to add that it plays like butter. Sustains for days. Has mojo... umm did I miss any cliches?
gorch Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 ...And I've grown to really love wrap bridges...What a difference a wrap bridge can make. It's a shame to sell this one because of its bridge.
Moose Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 I'm not selling it because of the bridge. I'm selling it because I've got too many, most of my guitars never come out of the closet anymore, and I have too many that cover the same territory. I have to weigh benefits and decide which one stays. But the decision's really hard. The other has the wrap bridge, but this one has about the nicest neck in my stable. Almost identical to the one on my Junior and my standard -- both beefy vintage bastards that I find really comfortable. It'd be a heck of a lot easier to decide if one of my artists was a dog, but in this case the choice was almost arbitrary as each is an awesome guitar and has traits I really like.I have two more hamers coming up, and a Carvin Fatboy. They're all really nice guitars and they all need homes where they'll be played and appreciated.
Moose Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 Quick bump. Had some tire kickers looking at it, but no deals yet.Maybe I'll try to sell my sunburst if this isn't grabbing people's interest.
gorch Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 ... On this photo the top looks close to that Earthen Maple style. The grain of the wood is one of a kind. What a guitar!
Moose Posted November 26, 2009 Author Posted November 26, 2009 On this photo the top looks close to that Earthen Maple style. The grain of the wood is one of a kind. What a guitar! It surprises me how good Hamer did on getting wood during the early to mid '00s. This axe, the '04 Studio Bubs now owns, and my '05 Studio (that I'm keeping) are all spectacular. And they are all players, not just beauty queens.Anyway, here's a bump and a wish for a Happy Thanksgiving to all y'all here in the States.-Chris
