specialk Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Okay, my dirty little secret. I use a tuner. My ear is not accurate enough. So I came across this site:http://www.meiselaccessories.com/html/products.htmlI now use a Fender AG-6 plug-in tuner that shows each string with an analog meter/LED readout. I think I'd like the convenience of a clip-on tuner instead. Anyone here use one? Any good/bad recommendations? Thanks for any advice/info!
tomteriffic Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I've got a couple or three. One is an Intellitouch, the others are similar to the MST-10's there. They might be the same innards, even. The only significant difference on mine is that the whole screen changes color as you get in/out of tune. I only use them onstage for fast tweaks between songs because I can't see most stompbox type tuners well enough to tell WTF is going on down there. They're OK enough but they're slow to react. This can foul you up when you're doing a small tweak. You can shoot right past your target before the tuner even knows it. This can be a nightmare when you're trying to find the culprit string on a 12'er in a hurry.I think I paid just shy of 20 bucks for them at the local shop.BTW, that battery tester could be a very handy thing, especially for guitars that you can't change the battery in without a toolbox and a PhD

elduave Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Sabine Zoid 1000. I'm over the moon about how good it is.Thanks for the info, Dave! Do you carry these? We're about to place an opening order with Sabine. The sent that one as a sample and it's my go to tuner in the store now. Blows away the Intellitouch. Don't let me hold you up if you want one in a hurry but certainly we'll be getting them.
Ethan Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 All the bluegrass dudes down here like the korg one...I am interested to see the sabine one, they used to make these cool tuners that would stick to the side of your guitar where the neck joined.
Feynman Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Interesting. I used to go through clip-on/surface mount tuners like mad, then lost touch.I like that the Sabine Dave linked also has a mic for tuning things even when it's not attached. I think I will have to check one of those out.
elduave Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I'd been looking for a stick on type for my Martin, and bought this from anotherfreak: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0002F7G...SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg I had it on the side of my guitar at first and it just wasn't doing the job. Then, I decided to put it on the face of the guitar. Works much better now. This Zoid thing is just the bomb: http://www.boutiquemusicinc.com/e-store/im...abine/Z1000.gif Clip mode, mic mode, I *love* the way the entire display lights up green when on pitch, very fast and accurate.
jwhitcomb3 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I'm a big fan of the Intellitouch. Can have some problems latching onto the low E, but works fine with the 12th fret harmonic.-Jonathan
