Pickup with three mounting screws

Lockbody

Question

Posted

My new Strat has a bridge humbucker that has three mount screws. Two on the lower-string side, and one on the other.

Can you find replacement pickups that will fit that, or would I be better off just buying another HSS pickguard (yes, I know I could just drill a hole between the other two)?

I have a Yamaha guitar with 3-hole HB's and when I changed them out I looked at maybe drilling a hole in the middle, but there wasn't enough room. I had an easy fix in that I just had to buy new pickup rings, not a new pickguard.

This is fairly easy... Get a small piece of brass, aluminum or whatever from a hobby shop ... and make a little plate that mounts to the pickup(make it about 3/16"x3/4")... I forget the size of pickup screws but I think it's 3-32. Drill three holes and tap them. Screw the center one into the pickup leg and the other two are for mounting into your ring. Any pickup can then be made into a 3 point adjustable pickup this way. Gibson used to do this with ther Victory series. Make it so you can adjust your pickups to any angle.

Damn Craig, you are the man! What a perfectly simple solution. Thanks.

...and the screw holes likely won't match. Schaller did three hole ones too... and the holes probably are different too.
