hectorp Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Even Better with the setup I have now. The Phat Cat and the Single Coil with the tone all the way off. I fired it up yesterday and didn't even realize the tone was rolled of because it was such a cool sound. I have one more Idea so I'll be looking for a donor soon enough.Yeah; the cool thing is the notes retain their definition and don't just get thuddy...like what often happens when you turn the tone off...I always tend to describe the tone as 'smokey': It's full of harmonics and it's particularly cool in the middle to upper register (anywhere above the 8th fret). If you can, please bring that beast to the Jam....

django49 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Good tip.......I am going to have to spend more time with that Proto II before I pass it along!
bubs_42 Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 What ever you do, DO NOT run it through an EL84 Amp. I had never done that before but OMG!
serial Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 THE PROTOTYPE STILL ROCKS! My Phantom Redux turned out so freaking killer that It gets 98% my playing time. If I can figure out how to twist up another one I will finally have a use for the last Sustainblock in the parts bin.I have a Proto (new Phantom) body in my parts drawer and I know about a neck that will work perfectly...
