Caddie Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 So. You want to relive the glory days of your youth. Impress the chicks at your 30th High School Reunion Dance. You got the wig. You got the stretchy LYCRA pants and the REO Speedwagon sweatshirt with the sleaves cut off. Now all you need to complete the outfit is an appropriate rawkin' axe. Something that can really pull off the dive bombs AND the hard pull up. No over the top graphics, no dayglo orange paint job with a money shot decal and a F&%$ Authority bumper sticker. Too risky. You never know when someone from the HR dept might stop on in for a brew on open mike night. You need something that says rawk in a refined, statesman of rock sort of way. Well here ya go Unbelievable condition for a 28yo axe. However this is not a museum piece. No finish checking on the front but plenty of it on the back of the body & neck. A few dings on the lower waist, back side. You will not see them, nor will the paparazzi, nor will your thongs of groupies. Sounds great, plays great. I refuse to use the phrases "sounds like god" "plays like buttah"...however......... It does indeed sound like a 28yo big ol' solid mahog Hamer should sound. Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy. The Kahler trem was recently disassembled, cleaned and a few worn parts were replaced. It also got a new bone nut. The triple bucker cannot be orig. It consists of a Seymour Duncan Custom SH-5 and an SD Cool Rails to add some extra bite when you want it. Orig Hamer hard case included. Fair condition. One buckle is missing that thingy that you flip over the saddle then snap the other thingy shut? You know what I mean. 3 out of 4 buckles + one locking buckle does the job just fine. Not too many 1982 Hamers of any model still hanging around. This one happens to be in excellent condition. Watcha gonna do? Be a poser and pay double for a MIM, big brand name, artificially antiqued (beat with bike chains), low quality gee-tar. Or do ya want a high quality instrument that is unique & cool. $987 $900 $876 shipped CONUS caddie Quick! Buy now before our representatives impose some kind of tax on our deals!!
Punkavenger Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 incredible grain on a one piece mahog. body ... perfect neck size and fat frets ... really beautiful guitar! I really like the cool rails in that one. Seriously has a special mojo. Even the case is cool! '82 was a verry good year.
JefeMaximo Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Very cool guitar. Classic looks without mimicing everything else.
holLoWskull Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Caddie is a great guy to do a transaction with...no worries. Plus you have to love the sense of humor he injects into his for sale post!
Punkavenger Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I bought two of my best pieces of gear from Caddie
Submariner85 Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I got the other 82 Prototype recently for sale here. Great guitar.
Case Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Don't suppose you'd consider a trade for my Phantom Custom? I love the 'proto/phantom' body shape, but am looking for something with a trem. This is the best of both worlds. I could add a bit o' cash. Thanks,Casey
Caddie Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Thanks for the offer Case, but at this time the only thing I'm trading for is cash.caddie
peedenmark7 Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 ahhh, the prototype.... still makes me giddy as it did back in '81...jol really nailed this one...
Caddie Posted March 19, 2010 Author Posted March 19, 2010 OK, OK, just to get the game going...my wannabe rockstar 40-something neighbor is offering the obligatory opening bid of "tree fiddy wun". Don't make me go hire one of those auctioneers from the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auctions. You know the guys with the turbo speed speaking style! Please, no pubicly posted offers. This is NOT an auction. PM any offers. If no one here wants it by Monday. It will go away...Thanks laddies & lassies.caddieps to the mods - Noooooo, I'm not starting an auction here. Just a creative bump. The usual simple "bump" is lazy and IMHO insults the superior intellect of HFC membership and our Moderators(shameless brown-nosing)
Caddie Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 bmp - the neighbor bought my Strat instead. He saw rockstars using them on TV, not Hamers.
