Old Hamer Bell TRC

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a place that sells the old style 'bell' trc that will fit a Hamer? This is the one that looks like a Gibson trc. The hole spacing is different between a Hamer and the Gibson trc so the only way it will fit is to drill a new hole and plug the original. Works, but it seems like a proper sized trc is a neater soluton. Thanks!

I don't know where to get them, but I wish they still used those as well. I have a couple old ones, but I need to hang on to them. You could get some made...

I have dealt with fretsonthenet before and had a fantastic experience. The dude made me a dark blue anodized brushed metal rear cavity cover that is absolutely PERFECT for only $40. his turnaround time was less than a week.

Of course, you could just measure the hole distances and search the 'Bay for one that lines up, but give that dude an email, he'll make you one real cheap. He absolutely nailed my 1982 Special rear cavity cover, so he could probably make a simple 2 or 3 ply truss rod cover made of plastic in his sleep.

Thanks for the link! Is there any way you could scan the trc and post as a file? Might be easier than trying to explain what I need. Thanks!

You just need to measure the distances between the holes, it's a simple three hole bell cover right?

pickguardian can make you a custom cover from a scan and some measurements, they do it all of the time...

No, it's the one that looks like a Gibson trc - two screws

That's a simple 3 ply (b/w/:huh: two hole bell cover, you should be able to get something like that just about anywhere. :D

+1

He made a pickup ring for the triplebucker on my Proto.

He had a template for it (as he does for many things) so all I had to do was send the money.

Very good quality part, perfect fit, quick turnaround.

Many of Hamer's parts were Dimarzio-supplied. I've picked up several old DiM TRCs on the net that were identical and fit Hamer stuff perfectly.

I'd be willing to send Dave at Frets on the Net my TR cover if we could get a list of people who would like some. I'd like to have a few as well.

I sent an email to Pickgurdian so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks for all the help!

Just received an email from Tony Dudzik at Pickguardian and he says that he can get close in shape but not exact. Gibson uses a different manufacturing process that allows for sharper corners etc. Hmmm...

I thought I sent an email to Fretsonthenet but I guess I didn't. I'll send an email and see what they say.

Forgot to mention, Tony would need a tracing as a sample (which I don't have). I'll update with the response from Fretsonthenet.

I could send the sample, if we get a good amount made.
