larry Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Mandolin Brothers, one of the biggest guitar sellers in the country, doesn't have Hamer listed among their dozens and dozens of guitar builders. I wonder why not.
Citrus Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Back in the early 90s, they tried carrying the line - I bought my 1st Studio there - it was used one..I remember them having a pair of p90 specials that they couldn't move.Mandolin brothers is a "vintage" shop, and more concerned with the "traditional" brands - Fender/Gibson/Martin/Gretsch/Rickenbacker, and their respective linesThats what people go there for.
G Man Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 I go there for acoustics and find the electric selection a bonus. Really sweet selection of acoustics though, definitely worth the trip for anyone traveling to NYC.
Feynman Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 My guess is that they prefer to carry brands that they can sell.I've visited all the 'official' Hamer dealers here in Phoenix and found only a couple of imports. I always ask about the USA stuff, and I have heard each time something like "those are great guitars, but we can't move them."

BCR Greg Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 I can sell you guys ANY Hamer in stock at 50% off list you folks don't buy them. Imagine a shop trying to hang them on the wall.I used to have on of everything on the wall for years, but the internet based stores killed that, along with Hamer's constantly rising list prices. If stuff doesn't sell in a fair amount of time, we dealers have to eat it. SO.....few dealers will hang them.As the company changes, perhaps that will change, too.....
acb Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 there's no doubt that mandolin bros carry top shelf instruments for a NYC-based affluent market. a large percentage of their vintage instrument sales are via consignment contracts. they are known for high appraisals, ensuring their percentage of the sale profit...
