hikarateboy Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 Hi Gang, Just a heads up to let you know that we are close to being back to normal. we had to start with a blank slate and reinstall everything and look at every file and directory for residue (found some too). In many cases it meant newer versions so I am considering this a "Forced Upgrade" So, with out further adieu let's stay positive and talk about the benefits we are starting to see. First the server appears to be running much faster with the newer version of linux. You may have thought it was slower at times but usually what was happening is that there was a install going on and the processor was getting ham(m)ered. Emails from AOL and others no longer bounce since we switched to new mail server software!!! I consider this a biggie. This means that everyone should be able to get their password change emails. If you have one of those email registrations things ala earthlink which I dont really care for. it may mean that I will have to change the from to address to be mine instead of the server name. Let me know if thats the case for those with that situation. Member pages are coming back!!! Yep they are but will be a bit different. They will actually be a module in the message board called gallery where you can post your own pictures with descriptions/comments and its all accessed via the board security and attached to your profile so if you are logged in you can update it. Everyone will be able to view member or not too! Overall organization and security is much better. You dont see it but better for me and you for sure. Look for the index page profiles as well as the rest of the hfc content later tonight. I really good which is nice going into the weekend. Whew!!
Mike_C Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 FYI currently if you search Hamer fan club on either Yahoo search or MSN search it gives a 404 file not found result. Not sure what if anything you cna do about that but thought you should know.
