Remove the corner protectors, then use a vacuum cleaner with the beater-bar attachment. Then, iron it - just be careful not to use too high a setting or you'll melt it. That usually makes an improvement in the looks.

Walmart sells a Sweater shave designed to remove the "pills" that occur on the carpet when the fibers rub loose. Use that to remove the tumbleweeds.

The obvious hit me, and I decided to give the cabinet a hair cut. I was able to gently pull at the burs, and use fine scissors to trim them off, without damaging the covering.

That said, I can see that the sweater shaver, or light iron, will be the little extra to put it in even better condition.

Just. Say. No.

To carpet covered cabs....

I'm with you on that Jaye. But I found a Trace bass cab that was too good to pass up. It's identical to one I sold Chris Matthes a few years back. Now.. when I find a Trace head, I'll sell my Trace combo... which probably weighs more than a Smart Car.

I love that cab. It is not a whole lot smaller than my 4x10H cab, but SO MUCH EASIER to move.

I've been thinking about a Trace Combo for home stuff, but something smaller.

Which head are you looking to buy?

I'm getting flashbacks to the 70's and beer soaked, cigarette smoked carpeted PA cabinets in all the clubs I played.

This summer, I picked up a SWR Silverado Special Bass Combo Amp at a garage sale...Picked up for a steal at $225, but the carpet was completely trashed...I tried using one of those small personnel groomer/trimmer with an ace comb to get out the pills and hairballs, but it still looked like crap.

After a month, the carpet on the back of the amp actually gave way and fell off...I can now see why the amp went for so cheap...the amp sounds great and functions perfectly, but it was definately kept in a unfinished basement..the back wood was covered in mold....I carefully sanded down the mold and old glue off the back...

I honestly think I am over my head with recarpeting this amp...especially around the angled corners on the front face of the combo...One must know their limitations, and with trying to restore and recarpet this combo, I think I would do more harm then good..yeah, I admit it, I suck at things like this...spazz level 99...inept to the nth degree...

Can anyone give me any suggestions on people in the greater NYC metro/Long Island Area that can complete this work for me?

Thanks as always and Happy Holidays to All!!
