bubs_42 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I got it with my newly aquired SS. I want to know if I have something special or just run of the mill here? Good and clean with no flaking or rust. A few small pits but nothing major.
RacerX Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Old school, and cool. But it's easier to live with the later fine-tuner style. Also look close at the knife edges on the pivots, make sure they are not notched too much.M.
bubs_42 Posted November 20, 2010 Author Posted November 20, 2010 I think it was a great idea. The fine tuners are a must if your locked at the nut but if your old school or have locking tuners then this would be the bridge to have. Off to the parts drawer for now though the SS is going to require fine tuners.
Hamer95USA Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Hey bubs42, That's an original Floyd Rose without fine tuners that were handmade in Floyd Rose's garage. Brad Gillis of Night Ranger buys those up every time he sees them. My friend also has Randy Hansen's '60s Fender Strat modded with the non fine tuner Floyd Rose bridge at his repair shop. It's painted neon orange. I've seen those bridges up close. You'll have to unlock the locking nut to tune up every time you go sharp or flat, but Brad Gillis makes his wail without going out of tune. The parts for those bridges are impossible to find. If you have a broken or worn part on those bridges, you're going to have a hard time finding parts.Guitar George

Guitar George Or, it could be one from an old Kramer - lots of those were around back in the day on the cheaper models, and I don't think Floyd made them himself.............or that he ever was based in Germany. I'm going with run-of-the-mill. Z
bubs_42 Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 It would be great with a roller nut and some locking tuners.
Kramer_nut Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 A lot of those non fine tuner floyds were put on the early Striker Kramers. The ones that Brad Gillis buys are the hand tooled versions. The very early ones. The sustain block gives that one away as one of the later Non-fine tuner floyds. Still cool though!!Todd
