Hamer_SS_guy Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Does Hamer ever build a Jazz box in L-5 style? I had an idea for a Hamer archtop. Actually a L-5 design but with two venetian cutaways since Hamer made Gibson's two cutaway design popular for themselves. Adding a Newport tailpiece, nice inlay work (the Hamer logo is styled by the same font Gibson used in the 20's and 30's). Do they have archtop builders? Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Steve Haynie Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 I think Kim Keller told me Mike Shishkov made an archtop for himself in his spare time. For what archtops cost and the number of small shop custom builders out there it would seem like Hamer would not need to introduce an archtop to their line. The cost would be high and no one thinks of Hamer when they start looking for archtops. Sadly, the line is still tied to the 80's shredders in the minds of people who have not kept up with the company's output. If Hamer did make archtops they would be killer!
crunchee Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 What about the Improv? http://www.hamerguitars.com/?fa=detail&mid=1267 Edited to add: Willcutt has one if you can spare the coin.
cmatthes Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 This IS Hamer's version of a Jazzbox. Mike S. has definitely made some fine archtops...those guys up there are insanely talented.
mirrorimij Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Mike Shiskov makes some of the finest archtops I've ever seen.
