black magic Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 Looking for an OBL marked 900XL pickup form the 80`s or a BL L500XL. The 900 was made in Germany and the L500XL made here by Bill. Anyone got one for sale or maybe trade for something? I may even try a SD Dimebucker. Thanks-Jack.
rmahurin Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 Why don't you just get a new one Jack, they're $50 direct from Bill,... Bill Lawrence L-500 The L-500 Series is available in four different options:the L-500Clean / L-500Regular / L-500Lead / L-500eXtraLead You can select either: white, black, cream or zebra (white/black or cream/black) coils in either a black or silver cover. $50.00 for black cover $56.00 for chrome cover BL Ordering Page
ZR Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 That's the way to do it and then you're assured of getting the real deal. Plus, you don't have to be a rock star to order from good ol' Bill and Becky! While you're at it you just might order some of his cool guitar cables.
black magic Posted March 12, 2005 Author Posted March 12, 2005 I think I am going to have to do just that. I was really hoping for an 80`s OBL marked 900 to match hte 2 singles that are already in my Chap. Thanks guys-Jack.
edgar_allan_poe Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 Jack...THEY ARE THE SAME PICKUP.Just call Bill and tell him what you want. Why are you dicking around with this? Pick up the phone and call the guy.
black magic Posted March 12, 2005 Author Posted March 12, 2005 I will, but I was just trying to get a matched OBL marked one is all. Actually, they are different, the 500s look different than the 900s, no big deal, I was just hoping for a match. Jack.
rmahurin Posted March 12, 2005 Posted March 12, 2005 You may want to give it a few days so everyone gets a chance to see this.Maybe post to the main board as well as a last ditch before you call BL. Seems like an item someone here would have ratholed.
black magic Posted March 13, 2005 Author Posted March 13, 2005 I agree bro. I am not as impatient as other people are with me. I seam to be a target for impatient people, kinda odd really. I will try longer for sure. I appreciate your confidence, some people lack that around here some times. Jack.
Citrus Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Does this help??Don't know the model #http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7307795758&rd=1
formula73 Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Does this help??Don't know the model #http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7307795758&rd=1 I've been curious about these for a while...I've got a Bill/Becky L-500 in the bridge of my Bacchus V. How does this compare? I have no idea as to the history of these OBLs, but it looks like a regular BL with black blades and no can. Just curious. If this isn't the 900 ol' boy's looking for, I might pick it up out of curiousity. Any inputs?
ZR Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 The auction's already been pulled! Another rockstar strikes again! Just kidding Jack. Hopefully, you'll find the one you're looking for. If not, Bill and Becky are waiting for your call.
serial Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I'd steer clear from that pickup on the auction. NOT AT ALL what the XL 900 OBLs are. And that lead is almost nonexistent. The real OBLs are sealed potted (resin, not wax) pickups, that looks more like a standard hum with rails. These pickups were stock in Epiphone guitars in the 80s/early 90s. Have never seen them in anything else. Snob that I am, that means that they are junk to me.
black magic Posted March 14, 2005 Author Posted March 14, 2005 I appreciate it bros!! I will get a hold of Bill/Becky very soon. Thanks-Jack.
black magic Posted March 15, 2005 Author Posted March 15, 2005 I have a very nice all black bridge position Rio Grande BBQ Bucker for trade for a 900XL or possibly a 500XL, but would love an OBL marked 900XL to match my single coils in my old Chap. The BBQ is 12.76K. Jack.
