ib2010 Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 What is the "standard" fret size hamer uses on the newports. i'm lookin at one, on line, that was custom ordered with the jumbo dunlop 6100 's and am concerned it's too big a jump. haven't really embraced jumbo's in the past. any ideas ???
atquinn Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 According to the following thread it is .050" tall and .100" widehttp://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=98416100's are .055" tall and .110" wide. I have 6100's on my Artist Custom and by Indigo Studio Custom and I think they're fabulous. There's definitely a noticeable difference between the standard frets and the jumbos though (to me anyway), so if you already know you don't like jumbos, I can't see you liking them on a Newport.-Austin
gorch Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 The Hamer fret size is a custom fret size. You will hardly find the exact fret size on the market.
anotherfreak Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 6100's on a Newport!!!!!!if you pass, can you share the opportunity?
ib2010 Posted October 27, 2011 Author Posted October 27, 2011 Yea, i DiD Not pull the trigger. It's a custom order , and is priced kinda, well, STEEPish at $2399. (unique peice though) I would have done a trade that would have made sence, instead of cash. She's at "Chris Guitars" online. Very nice satin finish , Braz board, no dots , "modern profile neck" sunburst, and pick guard. And 6100 dunlop frets. check her out, s
ib2010 Posted October 27, 2011 Author Posted October 27, 2011 That guard would be off in about 3 seconds, if. I'd just stick the screw in the "character" hole.
anotherfreak Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 OH MY! there's a screw holdin' that on!!!!!!!! meh, it's ugly and it's previous owner dressed it funny but finally someone who knows what "used" hamers SHOULD cost I'd stick around here and see what pops up, I have seen cooler guitars go for less on the board. $.02
django49 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I bought the Duo-Tone from them a bit ago. Exceptional custom guitar, but pricey enough that it had been in inventory a good while. Was not cheap, but well worth it. From my experience (limited) a good seller to do business with. This looks attractive , but cannot go there........
Stokesdead Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 looks like a satin finish....is this correct?
anotherfreak Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Yup, satin.funny, they say the satin finish is MORE expensive, I didn't think it was ????
