G Man Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Without expressing your opinion on whether a Blitz should have a pickguard or not, does anyone know if a standard Gibson Explorer pickguard will fit a Blitz, or would I need to get one custom made? Thanks
Steve Haynie Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 A Gibson Explorer and a Hamer Blitz/Standard do not have the same outline. Even if the pickups have the same spacing, the way the pickguard lines up next to the body horn will still be a little weird.
murkat Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 yeah, there are different era in explorer pickguards too. Just looking at my guitar wall, my Gibson 1983 Korina explorer sandwitched between Hamer standards.... Not going to work. A 58/59 re issue, maybe. But doubt it. Pickup spacing, bridge, no switch hole (unless you want a switch there... ) going to have to cut one, custom...
G Man Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 Thanks, off to find a sheet of material.
G Man Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 Okay, found a place to get the material. How big of a sheet would I need?

BTMN Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Little bigger than I invisioned but the guy that cut it put it on before I saw it. I wouldf have had him slim the lower edge and around the horn leaving a 1/2-1/4 inch of the Black. He cut this from a sheet of Cream material I got from Stew-Mac.
