dewey finn Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 50 Watt Marshall sounds best through?Ported 2x12 ala Port CityMarshall 4x12Opinions?
Studio Custom Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 A Bogner 4x12 which is made the old fashioned way Marshall use to be made.
hardheartedbill Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 My bogner 410 is my fav piece of gear. The key imo is solid woods
Len Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I vote Orange 4x12 (PPC412) ... Best sounding cab I've ever heard ... perfect match w/ a Marshall
murkat Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Had a portcity. Nice cab.I have two avatar classic 2x12 cabs. (old m75's) Also, nice cabs.I also have my two old Marshall 4x12 angle cabs, (Greenbacks & 65's , my old gigging cabs).after 30+ years of messing with this and that...Marshall head, with a Marshall cab... no looking back.
FrankieIII Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 A late model Orange 2x12 also sounds way huge for it's size. Cabinets/speakers are very subjective so your best bet is to take your amp head with your guitar to your local shop and play both through various cabinets to see what tickles your fancy. YMMV...
Bobby Marshall Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 If I was getting a 4x12 I would strongly consider a scumback cab with the prerola reissue speakers.
Roshark Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I will second the scumback prerola speakers . They sound great with anything from the Marshall amp family . I have seen some of the scumback 4x12 with an adjustable back port . I thought it was a very interesting idea but did not try it out personally .
Never2Late Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Don't cabinets 'react' differently, depending on the speakers you install in them? I would think the speaker itself is more important than the wood of the box that it's mounted-in....edumucate me here....
