Need a good bagged vacuum cleaner??

I have a Dyson Pet DC17, which is a great vacuum, but with 2 cats that shed a lot and have "hairball issues" () , the vortex generator eventually gets coated with pet dander, etc. and causes the exhaust air to have an unpleasant odor. A new HEPA filter in the base helps, but there is still a hint of the odor, and eventually, the odor returns. Cleaning the vortex generator is difficult at best and the odor is never completely gone.

I'm thinking a HEPA bag vacuum might be a better option for my situation.

Recommendations?

TIA,

I have the same vac as you.

I have gone thru, tried a many vacs, the Dyson is best of all of them.

3 cats, 2 parrots, 1 dog.

The "odor" from dander is there no matter what vac I had.

You can try a lil shot of freebreeze in the out take filter,

or what I use, an ozone generator ionizer.

I was told if you have pets, then make sure the vacuum you get is NOT bagless. Apparently, bags hold the pet dander much better.

I have two Miele cannister vacuum cleaners; one for upstairs and one for down. I got the second one because I was so pleased with the first, and hate carrying vacuum cleaners up and down stairs. I also hate noisy or ineffective vacuum cleaners, which describes EVERY other vacuum cleaner I had ever owned, including the much vaunted Kirby. Pieces of junk.

I've found my Mieles over the past decade to be reliable, quality cleaning tools, not gimmicks or toys or something that needed to be replaced in a couple years. They are well engineered, and I recommend them.

I had two Maine coon cats (talk about hair, and hairballs!), an now have a large hairy dog, and Mieles simply do the job. Miele vacuum cleaners are champs. (or Princetons, or Duo Sonics, or Vibroluxes, or Twin Reverbs, or you-get-the-idea).

Sorry to sound silly about them, but they are a good product.

Karcher Tornado, here. Uses bags, but i agree with Thundersteel on this. I think two or three filters as well.

If yer wife can get over the ugly yellow color (i think it's cool), they're powerful, relatively quiet, go full flat, very reliable, and if something does go, very easy to work on. I think we're going on about 12 years on this one, and all i've had to replace is one hose (worn out at the tip from using it to get the corners...)

Little more pricey than yer standard Hoover, but i'd say we got what we paid for...

Your mileage may vary, no affiliation, blah, blah, blah...

I have only owned 3 Orecks 15 years each... Love them.

Do you have furry animals? Which model do you currently have?

I considered the ozone generator ionizer route. Which brand/model do you have?
