The knot looks like it could be pine. Is it really light weight?

The strat-like guitar weighs 7.2 pounds. It's made in Korea. It's a Fretlight guitar - the one that lights up the fretboard in various scale and chord patterns. Is there any other wood with knot's like that? Weren't some old teles made of pine? Why is Pine not really a popular tone-wood...because it's hard to get clear pine wood (devoid of knots)?

What does anyone else think it is?

It's probably the most abundant tree suitable for guitar bodies in the region of Korea wherer it came from. In other words, who knows? I can gaurantee they are not spending any $ on importing something from very far from the factory.

Some sort of poplar, basswood or alder, native to the country of origin.

Looks like basswood to me. Not green enough for poplar.

Yeah, I know what poplar looks like. It was the wood of my PV Destiny USA guitar... defintely a green tinge or even streaks. But, does Basswood usually have knots like this?
