Question

I have been looking at treble bleeds for one of my Ibanez RG's ,as it sounds horrible with the volume down, I heard good and bad things about them, like don't but them on a strat as it makes them sound to bright, Has anyone here fitted one?

Hi!

I have a Kramer DMZ2000 which has stock treble bleed, and that works really well. I also think PRS has a treble bleed, mine certainly stays very clear when turning the volume down. Certainly nothing bad in those two guitars :-)

probably depends what frequency it passes above , or the low cut off frequeny . and / in relation to the sound of the guitar /pups. different value caps work at different frequencies , I played with a guitarist in the 80s that changed them weekly tryin to get the "right " amount of highs into his rolled back sound

It really depends on your specific pups and how bright you want to keep it when you rollback. A cap at about .001uf is a good place to start...

If mine doesn't have a cap then what is it doing?

I have found that changing to a 50s style wiring does a good job of retaining highs when I lower the volume knob. As someone who uses his vol knob for cleans and dirt, this is an important feature. Google 50s style wiring for more on this simple mod.
