Long Scale -- Tally & Super Pro only?

Well, 25" is the PRS scale, and I've heard MANY DOZENS of people refer to a Fender scale as 25" since the mid-'90s, probably because of that.

I'd just compare the pics of that Newport to a stock one, as a 25.5" (or even a 25") scale should have a slightly different neck joint, pickup and bridge placement than the stock model.

I do agree with Kiz, that based on my past experience, it is highly unlikely that Hamer would have done a "one-off" 25" scale - the engineering behind it would have cost way more than the profit from multiple guitars.

I guess I'm more literal than most, but when it comes to fact vs. opinion, "There's Math, and there's everything else," as Chris Rock says.

I wasn't challenging HHB (or anyone else for that matter) that the guitar exists, however I still don't believe information contrary to common knowledge, just because some guy trying to sell something says so.

And yes, 25" is longer than 24.75", but that doesn't put it in the category of "long scale," in fact, it's hardly even worth mentioning it.

Sure, I've heard of the Fender scale referred to as "25 inch scale." It's usually in an attempt to differentiate it from the Gibson scale guitars.

That said, if the person building you a guitar asked you what scale you want, you better believe you're not going to say "25 inch scale" if what you want is 25.5"

Because when you received it and the scale is a full half inch too short, I'll bet you anything you wouldn't describe it as "long scale."

Not in a million years.

I bet a midget would say otherwise!

Is there a scale différence between a midget and a dwarf ? And what about hands size ?

The difference, Snow White, is, from what I've heard, not a matter of scale, but of body proportions. Then again, I got that from Dopey, so maybe I'm wrong.

Incidentally, not to split hairs, but the earlier claim, with respect to "facts", that "there's math and then there's everything else" is itself a somewhat self-refuting notion, since it fails to satisfy its own conditions for being a "fact" (if "fact" is taken to be correspondent with a state of reality and "everything else" is taken to be dubious at best and false at worst)... I got that from Dopey, too.
