Looking for a Daytona pickguard

Hi all,

I'm chasing a pickguard for a '94 trans-green Daytona.  I picked it up in a trade years ago and a previous owner had changed out the pickups.  Not sure, but I suspect the original guard got  boogered up int the process, and that's why there's a generic Allparts strat one on there.  It works OK enough I suppose, but it's been 'hand trimmed' to fit, and not too well.  Which has always kind of bugged me.

I see I missed out on one back in February - my usual timing at play as always.  In any case, I'm chasing one if one turns up available.

Thanks!

Mike

I may have a tort one if you're interested. I'd have to check tonight.

Pickguard Heaven has them.  I haven't purchased anything from them so I don't know the probability of an exact fit.

Well, here are 2 that I have:

I bought the tort from somebody who said it was for a Daytona, while the white one came from who-knows-where. The white one says 'Hamer' in pencil on the back (not my handwriting), but it's different than the tort one. The white one has a deeper neck pocket and the screw hole nearest the tone control is farther inward.

Not really sure what's what here, but I believe early ones were different than later ones. I'm hoping somebody with a clue chimes in, 'cuz God knows I don't have one.

I got one of the NOS tort ones from Alpep and the screw closest to the control did not line up...I think Hamerhead's pearloid one could be a ringer though :)

Wow - good info all around.
Hamerhead - I see what you're saying about the locations of the screw by the tone pot.  Difference is noticeable in the pics.  Also, the Allparts guard (now that I've taken it off) has been all kinds of hacked up for the neck pocket.  Which lines up with your observation that the pocket is deeper on your white one.  Personally, I like the white pearloid better than the tort one for what that may be worth.

Greg G & BTMN - stumbled across pickguard heaven probably right around the same time you posted links.  I've got some emails going back and forth with them.  I'll see where that goes.

cmatthes - I was poking around on alpep's site under the parts section.  Totally missed that he has a Hamer parts sub-section.

Not quite sure what I'm going to do next - little bit of information overload at this point.  Which, really, is kind of a good problem to have. :)

FWIW, update after about a month.  Hamerhead and I traded some PM's, and he surprised and delighted me by offering to just send the white pearloid guard he had.  Things finally lined up and the guard landed at my place in yesterday's mail.  Absolutely, positively fits dead-on and looks a ton better than scraggly POS that was on there.  If I don't get in the weeds at work I might actually be able to put things back together this weekend.

Big thanks to Hamerhead for this.  Did I mention that he rocks?  As does this site, still, after all these years?  :D

I'll second that. I had the very same experience with the Tort guard. We PMd and he sent it out to me. Looks awesome. No a perfect fit but more than close enough for me. It's a gigging guitar not a museum piece. Hamerhead is the schnizzz!

Holy crap, how has it been almost a year. . .

So, after getting all that help and then being a d***k and going dark for so long - sorry about that.  I guess that's what happens when work takes over.

Anyhow, now that I'm out from under that big project that sucked the life out of me for so long, back to the Daytona.  The guard looks great - much better than what was on there.  Hoping to get it wired up and working in the next few weeks.  Or, to be smarter - any good independents left here in the Tampa area that can do a rewire?

With the help of a local independent shop here in Tampa, the Daytona rocks again.  I had forgotten what tone monster this is - I think it out Strats a Strat. . .
