Shipping a 4-Digit.......Bass

HSB0531

Question

While a 4-digit Hamer Standard case will fit in a box that ships normal USPS etc., a Standard bass case is much taller and I'll bet it's wider also.

Has anyone shipped one, and did you have to ship it freight?

The original flight case mine came in is huge and the Hamer HSC isn't much smaller.

The original flight case is 56"x21"x6"

The hard shell case is 54"x21"x4.5"

You will pay oversize on that no matter what. I have a Blitz bass case that is the same size as a Dean case that required oversize when I shipped it.

Besides that, you trust that shipping?  I would deliver that in person if it was less than 500 miles away were it mine.

No, I don't trust shipping it, I'd rather deliver it in person.

Funny thing is, it was originally shipped from Hamer in the flight case and survived.

'90 Standard bass w/normal case ran about 130 shipped/insured via UPS, and '81 w/Anvil (60 lbs behemoth!) via FedEx Ground ran ~180-ish as I recall.

Address PM'ed to make sure it arrives at the right place.

Well packed, I would not worry shipping. Definitely oversize since a Standard in a regular case already scratches size limits.

Wife was here when the FedEx guy arrived with the Anvil parcel.  She opened the door, and he let out a groan and said "thank God!!" :D  That thing is a beast!

I've been using one of these for gigs:

Yeah a box w/extra cardboard reinforcement inside, and at least a few inches of padding around it and you should be fine shipping via normal means (at least within CONUS)

Sorry to hear that and GLWTS

Yours is beautiful and close in s/n and spec to the one I adopted.  Someone (hopefully here) will cherish it.  I was honored to get the chance to be caretaker of one and have been playing the heck out of it.  Previous owner had it since about '83.  May not have been original owner but pretty close... Still in contact too- great guy.

What # is yours?

Yes, it would go on sale here first.

I'd want it to go to a good home.
