Montelovesco Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Title says it all: I am thinking about a second lunch box amp. My Carvin V3M is in the rehearsal room, so I need something for 'at home'... Any experiences? Opinions? Thanx for sharing...
bubs_42 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 I never cared for it and I wanted one pretty bad when they came out. So many other IMHO better amps for the money. The tone just didn't do it for me at all.
tomteriffic Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 A friend of mine, a solo mixed electric/acoustic blues-ish originals player, has one with a Thiele cabinet. He says he loves it, but when I'm able to catch him in town, he's far more likely to have a Fender Super Champ w/ Ragin' Cajun, an Orange lunchbox with a 1 x 12 Orange cab or a Vox AC-15. But he tours constantly so maybe he uses it more often than I'm seeing. Like Bubs, I wanted one pretty bad when they first came out, but it wound up leaving me pretty flat.
:-) Gruß Jochen Try in english :-) To many knops for me! I prefer the Studio .22 + and add some Overdrive pedals...

Since I am not a man of many buttons ( plug in play) I sold him and me ( again .. ) acquired a .22+ . Although , since the distortion sound somewhat " limited " but has a super clean sound and there are nice Treads ( 808 Rodenberg is because my latest discovery :-) ) . My conclusion: not bad but the new Mesa concept does not fit with the many ways to me ... :-) Greetings Jochen
Jakeboy Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I bought Lucsulla's a few weeks back and absolutely LOVE this amp! I have lots of quality classic circuits and this one hangs right in there. It is hands down the most versatile amp I have ever played....can do Vox tones EXTREMELY well, Marshall a every bit as good, Mesa, and Fender. I am not a BF/SF Fender fan at all so that mode left me a little flat. I live Fender tweeds and Browns/blondes. That said , I was able to record a new song using the Fender mode and the Vox mode. The Marshall mode at 5 watts is incredible. Sounds like a JCM 800. I am amazed these didn't take off better for Mesa. There is a stiffness to the amp that may be the culprit. IDK> I dig it. I have other amps with rectifier tubes so that base is covered. it really nails the Vox thing. That's why I bought it.
