GHS Fast Fret (or similar)

Question

Does anyone use anything like GHS Fast Fret ?

I'm more interested in something to extend string life. I've got too many electric guitars to keep the strings fresh and it's getting to me.

I use it on most instruments I play live, for this reason primarily, although it does cut down on squeaks (important on acoustics) and slicks the strings up some.  I'm sure a battle rages concerning its good and evil qualities, but it's a good life-extender among its other benefits.

I've been using it for years, though I personally never noticed any difference in string life. I also use it on the back of the neck to speed up my playing.

I *have noticed an extension in string life.  Not extreme, but noticeable.  I used to play regular outdoor summer gigs with a Duotone Custom, an Eclipse 12 and a Strat (and usually something with P90's and an acoustic).  The Duotone got about half the show and the rest was spread out amongst the others. I could get through a summer on 2 or 3 sets on the Duo and one on the others.  Which was great, since I'm cheap and lazy and didn't want to re-string 2 or 3 guitars a week.  Especially the 12.

For this, I'd steer you towards Cleartone's coated electric strings before I ran with a can of Fast Fret. I used the Cleartones for a few years. Uber-thin coating is hardly detectable and doesn't flake, the strings look good and last a long time and most importantly, the strings sound really good for my ears (primarily a rock player). Great choice for guitars that are an occasional pull but mostly stand or case queens. They are 2x the cost of "normal" guitar strings but you will get substantially more than 2x the useful lifespan, at least that was my experience with them.
