SSII x 2 Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 Anyone have advice on using EQ pedals? Up front or in the loop, and where in the order? I don't use a ton of pedals. Usually FD-3 then wah then Deja Vibe and into the front of amp. Loop is usually just a delay and /or reverb, maybe a clean boost. I'm new to EQ boxes, just got a Danelectro Fish 'n Chips 7-band. Started out with it in the loop and sounds pretty great for $29!
scottcald Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 Depends on what your goal is with it. To simply shape what the guitar's tone is or provide more (or less) at the input, then I'd say before the amp. To shape the post preamp tone, then in the loop. That will also allow you to do a boost with it. Bottom line is try it in different places in your chain and see what suits you best.

tbonesullivan Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 As others have said, depends on what you want to accomplish with it. Usually people put it in the loop, to use as a boost or to shape their overdrive sound after the fact. As people have seen with the Mesa Boogie Graphic EQ, you can radically change the sound with one.
