Explorer with EMG pu´s

Guitarsforever

Question

I'm looking at a 2003 Gibson Explorer project with active EMG pu´s . Paint striped and the parts in a bag.  I have no idea of  Emg pu´s are like . any good ?  Anyway I'm wondering if the Pu cavity will fit normal Gibson humbuckers , and if I´ll need new pots - if I switch - Have some burst buckers in the drawer.

Thanks !

I´m not sure that the emg´s have ever been in the Guitar . There is no battery compartment on the back . I´ll have to ask about that . It also comes with pots for  passiv pu´s. It has a tone pros bridge -  looks like inserts . I´ll give him a call tomorrow . Looks like a nice slabb of wood . No worrys about scratches.

Most people like to install the EMG 81/85 sets... some people like them, some people don't... my buddy swears by them, I'm personally not a fan... & would install the SD JB/59 set or the Rio Grande Texas/BBQ set... either would sound awesome in that nice slab of mahogany
