diablo175 Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Always liked this tune and this remake is pretty cool .Joel Hoekstra has chops (perhaps too much or too over the top for this song) but it's Dino Jelusick's vocals that command our attention and rightly so. Impressive.
crunchee Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Excellent cover! Dammit, now I'm nostalgic again, thanks a lot.

I saw him play with Trans Siberian Orchestra and managed to catch his appearance in Rock Of Ages (a guilty pleasure through and through) Never heard his stuff with Whitesnake, though. And all of this is pretty mundane were it not for the fact that he's one of the few non whammy-ing LP slingers that I like. Yeah, I know, heretical and blasphemous!

I was a t work the day that someone wanted to come over and check it out, so I had my young(er) girlfriend handle the transaction. I get home from work and she says, hey, that guy bought the case and gave us passes to his show this weekend in Golden Gate Park. She hands me the flyer and the passes. Mickey Thomas Band. I ask her, which guy is he in the Mickey Thomas band? She says., "Mickey Thomas". She has no idea who Mickey Thomas is. And I'm all...."Mickey Thomas was just sitting in this room?" Too funny. For the younguns, from https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mickey_Thomas_(singer) - Quote John Michael Thomas (born December 3, 1949) is an American rock singer, best known as one of the lead vocalists of Jefferson Starship and Starship.

Impressive. I'm pretty sure once Portnoy (or anyone from Dream Theater) is in the lineup, "too over the top" is more like "surprisingly restrained". 🤣
Jakeboy Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 The singer is a force of damn nature. I really love the runs all done in unison by the guitar, keys, and drums. So cool. I always loved Craig C.’s solo on this one. Great cover.

Brooks Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 That was great! That dudes voice is outstanding. Love this tune, we did it in a short lived project w/ a fantastic female vocalist.
